Viewpoints in Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria is filled with spectacular viewpoints where you can experience the island’s dramatic landscapes from above. From high mountain peaks and volcanic rock formations to cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, these viewpoints offer some of the most breathtaking scenery in the Canary Islands. Many of them are easily accessible by car, while others require a short hike through the island’s rugged nature.
Roque Nublo
One of the most famous viewpoints is Roque Nublo, where a short hike leads to one of the island’s most iconic landmarks and incredible panoramic views across the mountains. Nearby, Pico de las Nieves, the highest point on Gran Canaria, offers sweeping views over the entire island and even the neighboring island of Tenerife on clear days.
Mirador del Balcón
Another spectacular viewpoint is Mirador del Balcón, located in Andén Verde along the wild west coast between Agaete and La Aldea. From here you can look out over dramatic cliffs and the deep blue Atlantic Ocean with Tenerife in the background, with the rugged coastline stretching far into the distance.
Mirador de Degollada de Becerra
In the mountains near Tejeda, Mirador de Degollada de Becerra offers one of the best views of the island’s central volcanic landscape, including Roque Nublo and the surrounding valleys. A short drive away, Mirador de Cruz de Tejeda is another popular stop where visitors can enjoy breathtaking views and explore local markets and cafés nearby.
Montaña de Gáldar
In the north of the island, Mirador de la Montaña de Gáldar provides beautiful views over the historic town of Gáldar and the northern coastline. Nearby, Mirador de Firgas offers wide views across the valley and toward the Atlantic Ocean.
Mirador Astronómico de la Degollada de las Yeguas
For something less known, Mirador Astronómico de la Degollada de las Yeguas on the road to Fataga offers stunning views over the vast and dramatic Fataga Valley.
Mirador del Pico de Bandama
Located on the edge of the impressive Bandama volcanic crater, Mirador del Pico de Bandama offers spectacular views over the Caldera de Bandama and the surrounding countryside. From the top you can see vineyards, lava fields and even the city of Las Palmas in the distance.
Mirador de Tunte
In the southern mountains near San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Mirador de Tunte provides wide views across the rugged interior of the island, with dramatic ravines and traditional villages scattered through the landscape.
Mirador de La Sorrueda
Overlooking the palm valley of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Mirador de La Sorrueda offers beautiful views of the Sorrueda reservoir, the surrounding mountains and the historic Fortaleza de Ansite rock formation.
Mirador de Unamuno
Located near Artenara, Mirador de Unamuno is named after the Spanish philosopher Miguel de Unamuno who admired the dramatic landscape of Gran Canaria. From this viewpoint you can enjoy stunning panoramic views of Roque Bentayga, Roque Nublo and the rugged volcanic scenery of the island’s interior.
Cruz de Mogán
Finally, Cruz de Mogán offers beautiful views over the valleys of Mogán and Veneguera with its palm trees and mountain scenery, especially during sunset.
